LG Ad Solutions, Best Buy Ads Link Premium CTV to Retail Media

Published · Updated · 3 min read

LG Ad Solutions and Best Buy Ads have announced a partnership connecting Best Buy's retail media network with premium LG TV advertising inventory, the companies confirmed this week via Business Wire.

The integration gives Best Buy Ads direct access to ad inventory running on LG smart TVs through LG Ad Solutions' connected TV platform. For Best Buy Ads buyers, campaign planning, targeting and measurement now extend into an additional premium screen beyond existing on-site and in-store retail media placements.

What does the integration cover?

The headline announcement describes a connection between Premium LG TV inventory and Best Buy's retail media offering. Specifically:

  • LG Ad Solutions supplies the inventory — ad slots inside LG's CTV operating-system environment, with access to automatic content recognition (ACR) data the vendor uses for audience targeting.
  • Best Buy Ads brings the retailer-side demand: advertisers already buying Best Buy's sponsored product placements, off-site display, and in-store digital screens can extend buys into LG TV households.
  • Activation flows through the existing Best Buy Ads buying interface for advertisers; no separate LG Ad Solutions contract is required at launch, according to the announcement framing.

Why does this matter for practitioners?

Retail media networks have, until recently, lived inside retailer-owned surfaces — a retailer site, a retailer app, a retailer store. LG Ad Solutions has spent years pitching the living-room TV as a screen retailers can buy alongside their own properties. The two sides meeting means a planner running a back-to-school or holiday electronics push can buy Best Buy's owned-and-operated placements and LG TV impressions under a single retail media roof.

That matters for three reasons martech buyers track closely:

  • Measurement unification. Retail media's pitch has always been closed-loop attribution from impression to basket. Extending that into CTV lets advertisers measure whether an LG TV impression drove a Best Buy purchase, using Best Buy's first-party transaction data.
  • Audience overlap. Best Buy shoppers skew toward premium electronics purchasers — the same households that over-index for high-end LG TVs. ACR-based segments from the LG side can now be matched against Best Buy's buyer file.
  • Premium supply. CTV has been dogged by reports of ad-supported streaming services running on lower-tier inventory. LG TV impressions, sold direct, give buyers a specific screen-maker supply source rather than a generic FAST or AVOD pool.

What the announcement does not specify

Business Wire's headline carries the partnership terms, but the underlying release accessed for this story does not list pricing tiers, minimum spend thresholds, or the geographic rollout. Practitioners evaluating the integration will need to confirm with their Best Buy Ads account team whether the LG inventory is available in all markets at launch or in a phased rollout, and how the LG impressions will appear in Best Buy Ads' reporting dashboards.

The release also does not name specific advertiser categories Best Buy Ads is positioning the LG extension toward — though given Best Buy's category mix, electronics, home theater, and gaming brands are the most plausible early adopters.

Neither LG Ad Solutions nor Best Buy Ads provided additional comment on go-live dates or measurement methodology before publication.
